Ex punches man in head as he's driving with a child

City Police arrested a 27-year-old female over the weekend and charged her with assaulting her ex-common-law partner as he was driving with a child in the car. The driver lost control of the vehicle but no property damage resulted.

City Police arrested a 27-year-old female over the weekend and charged her with assaulting her ex-common-law partner as he was driving with a child in the car.

The driver lost control of the vehicle but no property damage resulted.

The woman was arrested at 4:28 p.m. on Saturday.

Police say she was travelling in her ex's vehicle when the two got into an argument and she punched him in the head, then scratched him.

The driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the attack.

The alleged assailant will appear in bail court today.

The following are additional announcements made this morning by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service:

************************* Forcible confinement

A 28-year-old male was arrested by officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service yesterday 10 a.m. at his residence and charged with one count of assault, one count of threatening death or bodily harm and one count of forcible confinement.

It is alleged that on the 24th of October just after 1 a.m., the accused assaulted his common-law partner by punching her and choking her.

The victim attempted to leave the residence and the accused dragged her back in and refused to let her go.

The accused also threatened to kill her during the assault.

The victim received non-life-threatening injuries as a result. ************************* Breach of release order

A 30-year-old male was arrested by officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service on the 24th of October at 10:45 p.m. on Northern Avenue and charged with one count of breach of a release order.

It is alleged that on the 24th of October, officers stopped and checked a vehicle on Northern Avenue and at the time they found the accused in company of a female that he was on conditions not to communicate with due to past domestic-related incidents.

************************* Threatening

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 52-year-old John Karri of no fixed address on the 24th of October at 10:06 p.m. on Queen Street East.

He has been charged with one count of threatening death or bodily harm for allegedly threatened a male known to him at a downtown residence.

He is to appear in bail court this morning.

************************ Breach of release document

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 39-year-old Jason McMaster of #2-569 Cathcart Street at 4:05 p.m. on Queen Street West and charged him with two counts of breach of a release document.

It is alleged that on the 23rd of October the accused breached his recognizance by not being in his place of residence and by consuming alcohol.

************************* Break and enter reports

- A residence in the 1000 block of Second Line East was entered on the evening of the 23rd. Prescription drugs were reported stolen.

- A residence on Backcountry Court was entered on Friday. A flat-screen television, a television projector and a laptop were reported stolen.

************************* Vandalism, thefts and smash-and-grabs from vehicles

- Numerous vehicles throughout the city were entered. Items stolen included purses, change, a backpack, wallets, a satellite radio, sunglasses and a passport and keys. - Numerous vehicles were vandalized - windows smashed out, many by rocks. ************************* Thefts

- Scrap metal was reported stolen from a business in the 1000 block of Trunk Road.

- Two bikes were reported stolen from Second Line West and East Street.
