Everybody loves Tony. Well, for one night anyway!

Last night's event honouring Tony Martin for 20 years of political service to Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma was a sellout.

People came from far away, both politically and geographically, to congratulate Tony and hear stories about his careers in provincial and federal politics and his formative influences.

Three of his four children - Sarah, Moira and Scott - were among the many dignitaries who took the podium.

Many others, including federal NDP Leader Jack Layton, sent greetings.

Ron Irwin, Canada's consul to Boston and a former Sault mayor, Liberal MP and minister of Indian affairs and northern development, as well as a very long list of local mucky-mucks were among the guests who honoured Martin.

Martin is seen here with his wife, Anna.

SooToday.com will have more on this story and photographs of the event later today.
