Production at Essar Steel Algoma could rebound significantly next month, according to an article to be published tomorrow in a leading business newspaper in India.

The Business Standard quotes Essar Steel Chief Executive Officer Jatinder Mehra as saying: “There appeared to be a spike in demand and from July onwards, Essar Steel Algoma (in Canada) would be operating at 80 percent capacity.”

The local plant's current operating level isn't identified.

However, the story reports that Essar Steel and JSW Steel in the United States have been operating well below 50 percent capacity.
