Eric Mearow, known in Sault Ste. Marie for an extensive history of violent crime, was flown to the Sault last night after being picked up on warrants in the Thunder Bay area.

Mearow appeared in bail court today at the Sault Ste. Marie Court House.

Last April, Mearow and Wesley Hallam (shown) were both charged with attempted murder after a shooting at a West End residence. Those charges were subsequently withdrawn for lack of evidence, with the two men represented by Melanie Dunn of the law firm Dunn Tremblay-Hall.

Hallam is named in a Facebook page, R.I.P. Wesley Hallam, as the local man who was found decapitated Tuesday on Landslide Road.

City Police have so far not confirmed Hallam as the victim.

So far, no charges have been laid in the Landslide Road investigation.

Eric Mearow's rap sheet of violence is so long that in October, 2009, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service obtained a two-year judicial restraining order requiring him to report in person every Friday to police headquarters at 580 Second Line East.

The order was granted based on Mearow's perceived risk to re-offend.
