Freezing rain warning in effect for:

• Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island
• Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay

Ice build-up due to freezing rain is expected.

Freezing rain will last for several hours before changing to rain this afternoon as temperatures edge above the zero degree mark.

The freezing rain is expected to be heavy at times which could result in significant ice accretion.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Utility outages may occur.

A long-lasting period of freezing rain resulting in ice accumulation is expected or occurring.

Temperatures will slowly rise through the day which will change the freezing rain to rain late this afternoon or this evening.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous. Take extra care when walking or driving in affected areas. Consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve. Utility outages may occur.
