Today, the results of the annual Key Performance Indicators (KPI) survey were released province-wide.

Sault College is very happy to announce that it has been ranked first in Ontario by employers for the overall quality of our graduates. Our graduate satisfaction rate was also impressive with a second place ranking in Ontario.

“We are very pleased that these results showcased that employers and graduates are extremely satisfied with their experiences with Sault College. We strive to give students the best educational experience possible and our graduates are telling us we are doing a good job of that,” said Dr. Ron Common, President Sault College.

“The successes we and our graduates achieve are due to the efforts of our staff and faculty.  The quality of education and services that our graduates receive is world class. Our staff loves what they do and that passion and care shines through time and again,” says Colin Kirkwood, Vice-President Academics and Research.

“This past year however, our overall student satisfaction scores slipped nearly 10 per cent. We believe the drop is a result of two factors; the Ontario College faculty strike and major construction in two large areas of the College. We believe these disruptive events had an impact on the overall satisfaction survey results, most notably our overall student satisfaction rate,” said Dr. Common.

“While we remain respectfully in the top ten rankings of Colleges in Ontario for overall student satisfaction; we strive to be the best and always aim to be in the top position. With the construction complete on our new iE3 complex, we anticipate an improved student satisfaction standing next year” added Common.

In the surveyed categories Sault College scored highly:

  • 100 per cent employer satisfaction rate up over 11 per cent from last year, 1st in Ontario
  • 87.3 per cent graduate satisfaction rate up almost 7 per cent from last year, 2nd in Ontario
  • 85.6 per cent of our graduates found employment within 6 months of graduation\
  • 76.2 per cent student satisfaction, 8th in Ontario
  • In the top five in Ontario for quality of services

“Every year we thoroughly examine the results to seek ways to improve our services and the student experience.  We will begin that work in earnest to continue our history of excellence and ensure our students have the best possible post-secondary experience,” says Kirkwood.

Since 1998, the provincial KPIs have been gathered annually by independent research firms for the colleges and for the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities. The most recent data were collected from March 2016 to February 2017.
