Emerson Bentley did his first and only driving test in 1950, on his newly purchased 1929 Model A Ford.

Yesterday, Bentley attended the Shifting Gears seminar hosted by the Canadian Automobile Association at the Station Mall Galaxy Cinema to sharpen his skills.

"The lectures were good refreshers," Bentley said. "Sometimes we all need to be reminded of the everyday stuff we often forget."

The event, part of Seniors' Week, consisted of numerous lectures including vehicle maintenance, driving while taking prescription medications and general road safety.

The mission behind the seminar was to educate and encourage senior drivers like Bentley, who's nearing 80, so they can keep driving safely and assuredly.

Even if they're no longer driving Model A Fords.
