RON SWAIN PC CANDIDATE ALGOMA-MANITOULIN

************************* Dalton McGuinty and Mike Brown have led Algoma-Manitoulin to being the third poorest riding in Ontario

BRUCE MINES, ON - Ron Swain Progressive Conservative Candidate Algoma Manitoulin states: “Under Mike Brown’s 20 years of representation, we are the third poorest riding in Ontario and when asked about support for a northern nuclear plant in a Sault Star interview on September 20, Mike Brown said: 'Establishing such a plant is not necessarily a bad idea but the demand is not there.' I ask Mike Brown, is there a demand for jobs in Algoma Manitoulin? Mike Brown, are you proud of the fact we are the third poorest riding in Ontario? Mike Brown, are you saying out migration will stop without jobs and economic opportunity?"

Ron Swain states: “The issue of wealth creation and larger wages can not be discussed without talking about developing the North so we have the economy of scale necessary to create employment, well paid jobs with benefits and opportunity for advancement. Our efforts on development of a northern nuclear plant, twin-laning Highway 17 between Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie, moving 10 percent of officer space and jobs from Toronto - into the North, all gas tax collected in the North spent in the North, a bursary program for northern citizens and Aboriginal people in all our universities and colleges, and more apprenticeship programs are the real issues to be addressed in wage improvement.

"A new co-operative housing program to develop housing and rental stock for all income levels is also a vital component of living in dignity and creating economic activity in the north.

"John Tory and I have the plans to re-invigorate the economies of our communities in this riding, see www.ronswain.ca"
