********************* Home invasion in Mattice

Hearst, Ontario – The Hearst Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police along with the Hearst/Kapuskasing Crime Unit and the South Porcupine Identification Services are investigating a home invasion that took place on Friday, the 7th of July 2006 at approximately 3 a.m.

The break-in and robbery took place at a residence on Balmoral Street, in the Village of Mattice, located approximately 30 kilometres east of the Town of Hearst.

Two males forced their way into a home - waking, binding and robbing two elderly residents.

During the incident, one of the suspects brandished a knife.

The males eventually fled the scene making off with cash.

One of the victims was treated by the Mattice First Response Unit with minor injuries sustained during the robbery by the suspects.
