"Poetic justice, in my opinion," says Shawn Taylor, referring to Smoking, one of the pieces he was displaying tonight at Desi9n, Sault College's 2009 graphic design show.

"The piece is denouncing cigarettes using cigarettes," Taylor told SooToday.com.

"The background was created by using a lighter to soot the board. The skull was created by layering illustration board. The color was achieved by using water that had cigarettes soaking in them."

Taylor is one of nine graduating students whose works will be on display Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Grand Theatre, 641 Queen Street East.

The following are profiles and work samples from each of the students:

Holly van Benthem Pamela McLean Chantal Nadeau Shawn Taylor Tiffy Thompson Nicole Beltramin Stephanie Floyd Mary Paulusma Nick Gordon
