EDS Canada, which created 275 new jobs last year when it opened a Soo call centre to support General Motors' North American roadside assistance program, has been named Services Organization of the Year at the Microsoft Canada Innovation Awards in Toronto.

The company also received top honours in the industry solutions (government) category.

The awards are open nationwide to Microsoft Certified Partners and Certified Technical Education Centres, as well as independent software vendors, distributors, large account resellers, value-added resellers, original equipment manufacturers and system builders.

In addition to its 35,161-square-foot telephone call centre in the Sault, EDS has about 8,000 employees at almost 60 other Canadian locations.
