East End residents robbed at knifepoint

*************************** Robbery at Wellington Street East residence under investigation

At 11:44 p.m. last evening, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service were called to a break and enter in progress to a residence on Wellington Street East.

Officers arriving learned that the male suspect had fled from the apartment with some items after threatening the homeowners with a knife.

Officers searched the area with negative results.

The two residents that were home at the time were not physically injured.

The suspect fled on foot with a pack of Canadian Classic cigarettes, a purse and wallet taken from the home.

The male is described as approximately 5’9, average build and was wearing a dark puffy coat with a hood that had fur around the edge.

He also had a dark covering, possibly a bandana, over his face.

The investigation is ongoing.
