************************* Male arrested for robbery at Liquidation World on Trunk Road

Fifty-six-year-old Bernard Agawa of 920 Frontenac Street was arrested on the 3rd of November at 1:14 p.m. on Trunk Road and charged with one count of robbery, one count of threaten death or bodily harm and two counts of possession of stolen property.

It is alleged that the accused attended at the Liquidation World at 475 Trunk Road and took a pair of gloves and left the store on foot without paying.

A store employee confronted the accused just a short distance away on Trunk Road and asked him for the gloves back.

The accused pulled out a pocket style knife, unfolded it, pointed it at the employee and then walked away.

Police were called and located the accused a short time later in a business parking lot on Trunk Road and arrested him without further incident.

At the time of the incident the accused was in an intoxicated condition.

He is to appear in bail court this morning.

************************* Break and enters

- A shed in the 500 block of Albert Street West was broken into sometime overnight on the 3rd of November. A 2003 9.9 horsepower Mercury outboard motor was stolen.

************************* Thefts

- Vehicles on Moss Road, Hardiman Avenue and Grandmont Crescent were entered. Money, lottery tickets and sunglasses were reported stolen.

Protecting your home

- Make your home appear occupied when you go out.

- Lock all doors and windows.

- Leave lights on and the radio playing.

- Keep your garage door closed and locked.

- Use timing devices to turn inside lights on and off.

- Lock all sheds.

- If you will be gone several days, arrange to have the mail and papers stopped or picked up.

- Inform your trusted neighbours you will be away and ask them to keep an eye on you residence.

- Half of all home burglaries occur during the day when alert neighbors could spot and report the thieves.

Protecting your vehicle

- Never leave your car running unattended, even to dash into a business, store, etc. - Never leave any keys in the car or ignition, inside a locked garage, or in hide-a-key boxes. - Always roll up your windows and lock the car, even if it is parked in front of your home. - Never leave valuables in plain view, even if your car is locked. Put them in the trunk out of sight. - Always park in high-traffic, well-lighted areas, when possible. - Install a mechanical device that locks the steering wheel, column, or brakes. These devices will deter some criminals.

- Never leave personal identification documents, vehicle ownership title, or credit cards in your vehicle.
