Change is in the air for largely undeveloped Drummond Island, a short hop from the Michigan Soo.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources is leading a process to expand recreational use of the 83,000-acre outdoor paradise that is home to 800 permanent residents.
The state owns more than half of the island and a meeting was held yesterday so that officials could start designating new uses for publicly own land.
While some people want to see an expansion of tourism -related activities and the economic pluses they would deliver, others are concerned about negative impacts.
