Drugs, weapons seized at four Sault residences today

************************* Firearms and drug investigation results in five persons arrested and charged with numerous offences

On the 16th of February, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service street team unit concluded an investigation into firearms and controlled drugs.

Four search warrants were executed at local residences earlier this morning with assistance from the emergency services unit, OPP, RCMP and K9 units from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, OPP and Canada Customs.

Warrants were executed at the following four residences which resulted in the following seizures:

331 Sydenham Road

- Eight Oxycodone pills. - Large amount of offence-related cash.

345 St. Georges Avenue Apartment 112

- A quantity of anabolic steroids. - Twelve ecstasy pills. - Small amount of cocaine. - A stolen 9mm Luger handgun. - A stolen .22 calibre revolver.

406 Sydenham Road

- A hydroponic grow operation with eight plants. - Eight grams of marijuana. - A small amount of cocaine. - Pepper spray.

147 Old Goulais Bay Road

- Brass knuckles. - A knife that opens with centrifugal force (flick knife).

Five persons were arrested and charged with the following offences:

A male, 24. (charges withdrawn)

- Possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance (three counts).

- Possession of a controlled drug or substance.

- Unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts).

- Knowingly possess firearm without license (two counts).

- Possession of firearm with ammunition (two counts).

- Possession of firearm obtained by crime (two counts).

Jacob Leonard, 23 years of age, of 406 Sydenham Road

- Production of a controlled drug or substance.

- Possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance.

- Possession of a controlled drug or substance (two counts).

- Possession of a prohibited weapon.

[Charges withdrawn]

- Possession of a controlled drug or substance.

- Possession of a prohibited weapon.

Gilbert Wilson, 21 years of age, of 147 Old Goulais Bay Road

- Possession of a prohibited weapon (two counts).

- Breach of recognizance (two counts).

- Breach of probation.

Michael Leclair, 20 years of age, of 301-652 Macdonald Avenue

- Breach of recognizance (breach of curfew)

Total value of drugs seized was $8,550.

Michael Leclair, Gilbert Wilson, Jacob Leonard, and a fourth male (charges withdrawn) were all remanded into custody and are to appear in bail court tomorrow.

[Charges withdrawn] was released with a court date of March 21.
