WAWA - Superior East OPP (Wawa) are investigating an ATV collision that occurred approximately 70 kms South of Wawa and 55 kms East of Hwy 17 up the Frater Road.

At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 18, a 2009 Polaris ATV left the gravel bush road known as Jeff Road.

The ATV struck some large rocks in the ditch.

There was moderate damage to the four-wheeler and no other vehicles were involved.

The driver, 45-year-old David Friesen of Waterloo, Ontario, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A post mortem has been ordered by the coroner for Monday, June 20 in Sault Ste. Marie to determine the cause of death.

Superior East OPP are continuing their investigation with the assistance of a technical traffic collision investigator.
