Driver charged after smack-up at Queen and Elgin

NEWS RELEASE

************************** City Police attended at a motor vehicle collision yesterday at 12:40 p.m. at the intersection of Queen Street and Elgin Street that sent one 73-year-old female to hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

It is alleged that a Chrysler vehicle being operated by a 72-year-old male was westbound on Queen Street East when it traveled through the red light intersection at Elgin Street.

The Buick collided with the Chrysler.

The female passenger in the Chrysler was the only person reported injured at the time.

The vehicles were severely damaged.

The 72-year-old driver of the Chrysler, Ronald Koury of Elliot Lake, was charged with one count of failing to stop for red light under the Highway Traffic Act.
