Long-time local columnist Doug Millroy is being treated in a Missouri hospital for injuries suffered when his motorcycle crashed on Sunday.
According to an article in the Sault Star, the newspaper’s editor emeritus and former managing editor fractured seven ribs and a shoulder, sustained a small spinal fracture and required suturing to close a cut above one eye.
The veteran journalist was initially treated in an ICU trauma unit and appears to be making steady progress.
Three members of his family are en route to the hospital.
Millroy has years of long-distance motorcycle travels under his belt and was in a group of four when the accident occurred.
