Applications to nominate local seniors for the provincial Senior Achievement Award are available and the deadline for applications of June 15, 2016 is approaching, announced David Orazietti MPP.

“Ontario’s Senior Achievement Award program recognizes individuals who dedicate their time to keeping others active and engaged in their communities,” said Orazietti. “I encourage anyone who knows a senior that has worked to improve our community here in the Sault to submit a nomination for this award.”

Each year, the Ontario Seniors’ Secretariat invites nominations for the Senior Achievement Award.  This program recognizes seniors who, after the age of 65, have made significant contributions to their community and/or province. It is the highest provincial honour for seniors over the age of 65.

To make a nomination, visit the Senior Achievement Award link on the Ontario.ca/honoursandawards website. An independent selection committee made up of representatives from the seniors’ community and appointed by the Minister Responsible for Seniors reviews all nominations and recommends the candidates.  Up to 20 individuals are selected to receive the award and presented in the fall of each year at a special ceremony at Queen’s Park.
