Faithful SooToday.com reader Veikko Alopaeus decided to go for one last boating adventure this fall off St. Joseph Island.

He took pictures of rocks from the water,

Then, he turned them on their side.

And saw faces!

"When taking pictures, I found the half images with their reflection on the water looked like faces," he tells us.

"I turned the images on edge so they can be seen. Even though the weather was foggy, the glass-smooth water made for a fun outing."

"I took the pictures Saturday afternoon after leaving Richards Landing....We were not too far northeast of the St. Joe Island Bridge when through the dense fog we came close to the shore.

"The images immediately caught my eye and to me it shows part of the beautiful art work that I see almost on every venture into the woods.

"The images are so dependent on lake levels as you'll notice most of the images are half actual rock image and half the reflection from the water."

Here at SooToday.com, we're wondering whether Veikko's totem-faces might be the start of a whole new genre of landscape photography.
