************************* Shoplifting

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 39-year-old Scott Erdman of #4-262 Wellington Street West at 8:50 p.m. last night and charged him with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of breach of a release document.

It is alleged that on the 20th of January at approximately 4:45 p.m. the accused attended at Canadian Tire, took a winter coat and left without paying for it.

The accused was captured on store security video and later arrested by police at 262 Wellington Street West.

Officers also learned that the accused had moved from his previous address without notifying them of his change in address.

He is to appear in bail court this morning.

************************* Safety reminder – Defrost and clear vehicle windows before driving Colder temperatures overnight mean many are waking up to frosted windows.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service want to remind motorists to make sure they completely defrost, or scrape off vehicle windows before driving.

Patchy or minimal scraping becomes a safety hazard, creating more blind spots that may make it more difficult to see other vehicles, pedestrians and traffic signals.
