NEWS RELEASE

ALGOMA PUBLIC HEALTH

************************* Precautionary boil water advisory - Town of Desbarats

Algoma Public Health is advising users of the Town of Desbarats water system to bring water to a boil before using it for domestic purposes.

The water should not be used for the following purposes without first bringing it to a rapid rolling boil for at least one full minute:

- Drinking

- Making infant formula and juices

- Cooking

- Making ice

- Washing fruits and vegetables

- Dental care.

For these purposes, boiled water or commercially bottled water should be used.

If there are children in the home, place the pot on the back burner to avoid scalds.

The reason for this advisory is that repair to a water main currently underway, may allow contamination to enter the system.

This advisory will remain in place until such time as repairs have been completed and satisfactory laboratory test results have been obtained.

Residents will be notified when this advisory is no longer required.

For more information on safe water, please visit the public health website or call 356-2551, ext. 207 or toll-free at 1-888-356-2551, ext. 207.
