Desbarats gunshot victim known to Sault police

The man shot last night in Desbarats after an armed robbery in Richard's Landing was known to police in Sault Ste. Marie. Brian Grasley, 34, was to have appeared in court Monday on charges laid last month.

The following incident from February 21 was reported in our February 23 City Police beat:

********************** 34 year-old Brian Grasley turned himself in to City police on Saturday afternoon to deal with five outstanding charges of theft under $5000 and one count of fraud.

Mr. Grasley is alleged to have taken the bank card of persons known to him made several withdrawals prior to Christmas of 2003.

He is also alleged to have purchased a DVD player during this time.

He is scheduled to appear in court on March 22nd.
