The water levels on Lake Superior as well as Lake Michigan and Lake Huron have continued to decline, but their water levels remain above average according to the International Lake Superior Board of Control.

In November, Lake Superior declined 3 cm, which is lower than the traditional average decline of 5 cm for the month.

The lake is expected to continue its seasonal decline in December though with it will come an increased risk of shoreline erosion, lakeshore flooding, and coastal damage over the next several weeks and potentially throughout the winter.

As of the beginning of December, Lake Superior remains 25 cm above average though it is 8 cm below its level from the same time a year ago.
