QUEEN'S PARK – Earlier today, David Orazietti MPP met with local community nurses and stakeholders at the 16th annual Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) Queen’s Park Day.

“Our government recognizes the invaluable contribution that registered nurses make to our health care sector,” said Orazietti. “It was a pleasure to meet with local community nurses at Queen’s Park today to discuss health care in Sault Ste. Marie and how we can work together to make continued improvements.”

The RNAO, a professional association representing the province’s registered nurses, nurse practitioners and nursing students, hosts an annual event at the provincial legislature.

This week, approximately 175 registered nurses (RN), nurse practitioners (NP) and nursing students will meet with MPPs to offer and discuss policy changes.

Some of the key initiatives in the Ontario’s Patients First: Action Plan for Health Care were discussed which include; timely, safe and equitable access to the right care for patients; connecting patients with the services they need to receive better care in the community and promoting health care decisions based on value and quality.

Nurses play a crucial part in providing patients with faster access to the right care.

Supporting nurses in Ontario is part of the government's plan to build a better Ontario through its Patients First: Action Plan for Health Care, providing patients with faster access to the right care, better home and community care, the information they need to live healthy and a health care system that's sustainable for generations to come.
