************************* Steelworkers reach tentative agreement with Algoma Steel

SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – United Steelworkers’ Ontario/ Atlantic Director Wayne Fraser announced Monday that a tentative contract settlement has been reached with Algoma Steel Inc. for members of USW Local 2251, the company’s 2,714 production and maintenance workers at Canada’s third largest steelmaker.

Details of the settlement will not be released until union members have a chance to review them in meetings scheduled for Wednesday (August 1) at the Steelback Centre on Queen Street.

A vote on the settlement will take place on Friday (August 3) at the Steelworkers’ Hall on Dennis Street starting at 5:30 a.m.
