McGuinty government helps build safe, secure and accessible community living

SAULT STE. MARIE - The McGuinty government is investing $87,000 to improve supportive housing for the disabled in Sault Ste. Marie David Orazietti, MPP announced today.

“This investment in Community Living Algoma will improve the quality of housing provided to Sault Ste. Marie residents with special needs,” said Orazietti. “We are upgrading these facilities to improve the quality of life for some our community’s most vulnerable.”

Today’s $87,000 investment to improve living conditions for Sault Ste. Marie residents will support Community Living Algoma.

The funds will be allocated for the following purposes:

- $35,000 for structural improvements.

- $32,000 for general capital improvements.

- $20,000 for health and safety improvements.

These funds are part of a $7.5-million province-wide investment to improve accessibility, safety and security in agencies serving people with a developmental disability.

This investment will help agencies across the province upgrade their facilities and serve more people.

Other McGuinty government investments to improve services offered by Community Living Algoma to help Sault Ste. Marie residents with special needs include:

- $756,005 to help construct and operate new group home. - $603,742 to fund three new living spaces.

- $336,620 for improved developmental disability services.

- $262,000 increase to annual operating budget. - $199,280 for infrastructure improvements. - $80,000 to purchase two new vans.
