Yesterday morning, City Police investigated a collision involving a cyclist and a motor vehicle on Great Northern Road and the entrance to Home Depot.

As a result of police investigation, Kathleen Hannah, age 18, was charged with one count of “cyclist - ride along sidewalk” under the Highway Traffic Act.

The accused was transported to Sault Area Hospital with minor injuries.

************************* New website

We are pleased to announce the launch of the newly revamped website for the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service: www.ssmps.org

Early in 2011, the Police Service contracted the services of My DBM Website and much work was done in-house to highlight the different areas of the Police Service.

The new website is more colourful, interactive, and informative.

It contains many links to community groups and social services within our Community.

The Service’s first website was created in-house and launched in February 2000.

It was later updated in October 2004.

Each update has provided new features and information on the services offered by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The website has also been developed in accordance with website accessibility standards.

It can be viewed in English, French, and Italian.

A change in the host for the website allowed the Service to expand its new website to include an online-reporting section which allows members of the public to report minor incidents such as lost property, mischief, and traffic complaints.

Chief Davies stated: “I invite the members of the Police Services Board as well as the public to view the new website and check out the safety tips, programs, and services within www.ssmps.org
