Crime suspect points gun at witness. Their vehicles collide

************************* Yesterday at approximately 4:53 p.m., a male entered Merrett’s Pharmacy at 314 Wellington Street West with his face covered with a bandana, armed with a handgun.

The male demanded prescription narcotics and then fled the store to a waiting vehicle where a second male was the driver.

The suspects fled the scene but were observed by several citizens, one of whom called police on his cell phone and then followed the suspects.

At the intersection of John and St. George’s Avenue, the suspects noted they were being followed and the suspect with the handgun pointed the gun at the witness to ward him off.

This caused the witness to take evasive action, at which time the two vehicles came into contact resulting in minor to moderate damage.

The suspects then took off failing to remain at the scene of a collision.

The witness was able to follow the suspects again and help coordinate the interception of the suspects which happened in the Station Mall parking lot.

Appearing in bail court this morning is 22-year-old Andrew Gordon Metatawabin of 2-154 Albert Street East.

He has been charged with armed robbery, pointing a firearm and wearing a disguise during the commission of an offence.

The accused was also on probation and breached the condition of keep the peace and be good.

Also appearing in bail court will be 45-year-old George Turco of 415 Henry Street.

He has been charged with armed robbery, flight from police and dangerous driving.

Upon being arrested, it was discovered this accused was in possession of cannabis resin and was charged with this also.

************************* Break and enters

Police were called to a residence in the 400 block of North Street yesterday with regards to a residential break in.

This occurred mid-day and it is unknown at this time if anything was taken.
