CRIME OF THE WEEK: Dead puppies found in cage

Discovered north of Iron Bridge, cage was covered with a pool liner and tarp

Crime Stoppers is working with the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police to help identify the suspect or suspects involved in a cruelty to animals incident north of Iron Bridge.

Shortly after 4 p.m. on Aug. 28, police responded to the scene on a side road off the Red Rock Dam Road north of Iron Bridge.

Police found a large metal cage covered with a pool liner and tarp. Inside were the remains of puppies.

Police say it was difficult to determine the number of puppies due to the severe deterioration, but they were believed to be black and brown in colour. No food or water bowls were found inside, which police say suggests that the puppies were left there to suffer and die.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers by phone at (705) 942-7867 or 1-800-222-8477. People can also use the “Submit a Tip” button on the Crime Stoppers website or download the P3 app.
