OPP NEWS RELEASE

************************* Motor vehicle crash sends two to hospital Sault Ste Marie OPP are investigating a crash between a sander and a Volkswagon Jetta that occurred at 11 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 17 and Highway 638 in Echo Bay.

The sander was proceeding across the four-lane section of Highway 17 and was struck by a west-bound Jetta.

The driver of the car, Trevor Stinson of Richards Landing, suffered very serious injuries and his 11-year-old female passenger has been treated and released from the hospital.

Police at the scene of the collision are crediting the wearing of seat-belts with saving the lives of the occupants of the car.

The driver of the sander was not injured.

Charged with fail to yield to traffic on though highway contrary to section 136(1)(b) of the Highway Traffic Act is Clifford Paul Maceachern, age 38, of Echo Bay.
