City police got more than they bargained for when they responded to what initially started as a noise complaint at 27 Terry Fox Place late last night.

When they arrived at 11:30 p.m., officers found nothing that required immediate police attention.

However, a routine police-records check of the individuals involved revealed that 47-year-old Brad Bird was wanted for failing to comply with a breach of probation order from a couple of years ago.

When police started to arrest Bird, another occupant of the apartment, 28-year-old Annie Sutherland, is alleged to have come to his defence.

One officer was pushed and threatened with a clenched fist, police report.

Ms. Sutherland is now facing charges of obstructing and assaulting police.

The honour of her immediate presence in a cell at police headquarters was requested, together with the errant Bird-man.

Sobriety is not suspected as a cause of this occurrence.
