JOINT MEDIA RELEASE

ALGOMA DISTRICT AND HURON-SUPERIOR CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARDS

************************ Boards join forces on photocopy initiative

The Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) and Algoma District School Board (ADSB) have partnered on a joint five-year contract for photocopier services.

Xerox Canada emerged as the successful vendor from a process that involved two principals from each school system, the information technology administrators of the boards as well as their respective purchasing officers.

The contract includes a total of 232 digital photocopiers – 167 for the ADSB and 65 for the HSCDSB.

Four vendors participated in the request for proposal.

The evaluation included two photocopiers from each company being tested in schools for a three-month period.

Servicing capabilities were also assessed.

"We were pleased to join forces with our coterminous board to develop a contract that would be beneficial for both school systems," says John Stadnyk, director of education for the HSCDSB.

"By collaborating with the HSCDSB on this initiative, we increased the requirement for equipment and created efficiencies for our respective boards," says Mario Turco, Director of Education for the ADSB.

This is another effort by both boards to work cooperatively to bring efficiencies to both systems.

The HSCDSB has approved this contract and the ADSB has discussed this in open session at last week's regular board meeting held in Chapleau.

ADSB will formalize approval of the contract at its next regular board meeting.

The equipment is due for installation beginning in June to enable staff training before the end of the school year.
