Cops seek witnesses to Black Rd cable incident

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is seeking the public’s assistance in locating any witnesses to an incident on Second Line East and Black Road on Saturday March 12.

The incident was first reported to the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 1:59 a.m.

It is believed that an oversized vehicle, traveling eastbound on Second Line East to southbound Black Road, caught the overhead wires and caused the wires and the attached hydro pole to fall.

The incident caused a considerable amount of damage and resulted in a power outage to residents in the northeast section of the city as well as the interruption of Bell and Shaw cable services.
