OPP NEWS RELEASE

******************** Thieves and would-be thieves made their unsavory presence known this past weekend.

People hoping to enjoy the fruits of their labour on their rest days were discouraged to discover that unscrupulous beings had purloined those fruits and their labour had gone for naught. At Vixen Lake a wannabe bad guy entered a cottage.

The suspect went to some effort to remove two windows to gain entry.

Once inside it appears that the culprit did not find anything to his liking and left empty-handed. On Rydall Mill Road in Laird Township someone made considerable effort to break into a garage.

The suspect attacked the garage door with an axe but the door withstood the assault.

Two derelict vehicles on the property had their windows broken out, likely due to the inept felons exasperation at his failure with the garage door. Both of these incidents are still under investigation.

On Saturday thieves had an easier time stealing a pair of Yamaha Motor Scooters from a residence on Bar River Road.

The scooters had been stored in a garage but the door had been left open.

The brazen pilferers made off with the scooters in broad daylight.

Apparently the thieves are not safety conscious as they left the helmet for one of the scooters at the scene.

Two break and enters were reported in the Maki Lake area on Sunday.

In the first incident thieves entered a shed and made off with numerous power tools and a gas lawnmower.

In the second incident a man reported that a thief had stolen his water pump from under his cottage.

The thefts occurred between Friday and their discovery on Sunday.

With all of this thievery afoot someone out there must have information that would assist us in incarcerating these societal blights.

We can understand that those of you with knowledge may not be too keen to speak directly to police.

Allow us to offer the alternative of Crime Stoppers.

Crime Stoppers will not ask you to identify yourself.

They only ask you to provide information that would assist in capturing those responsible for unsolved crimes.

You will not be required to attend court and you may earn a cash reward for your efforts.

Give it some thought.

The next time one of these thieves strikes it may well be one or more of your prize possessions that goes missing.
