Power Workers' Union hosting a Telephone Town Hall Meeting for Northern Ontario residents
 
On Wednesday June 6, 2012, at 7 p.m., the Power Workers' Union will be hosting a Telephone Town Hall meeting for members of a number of Northern Ontario communities to share and discuss the benefits of Ontario's opportunity to convert our coal generating stations to a combination of carbon-neutral biomass and natural gas.
 
Calls will be made to approximately 60,000 homes in Kenora, Fort Frances, Atikokan, Macdiarmid, Nakina (Greenstone), Longlac, Hearst, Dubreuilville, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Timmins, Chapleau, Nairn Centre, North Bay, Inglewood and Thunder Bay -- all communities which a recent report on biomass pellet production determined as potential locations for pellet production from forestry residue.
 
Residents will have the opportunity to hear from the Power Workers' Union and experts on the topic of biomass production, and have their questions answered as well.
 
Members of the media can phone 647 748 3300 prior to 6 p.m. on Wednesday June 6, 2012, to be given access to dial in details for the telephone town hall meeting.
 
The Power Workers' Union recently launched [a website] to help educate Ontarians about our province's biomass energy opportunity.

Residents can visit the site and show their support for biomass by clicking "take action."
 
The Power Workers' Union will also be hosting three public meetings in Northern Ontario in the coming weeks:
 
• Sault Ste. Marie - June 12, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25, 96 Great Northern Road, Sault Ste. Marie, P6B 4Y5

• North Bay - June 14, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the West Ferris Community Centre, 42 Gertrude Street East, North Bay,P1A 2M1.
 
• Thunder Bay - June 19, 2012, at 7 p.m. at the West Thunder Community Centre, 915 South Edward Street Thunder Bay, ON,. P7E 6R2
