As the support services fleet manager, Const. Steve Miron was on hand this morning to show off the new City Police vehicles.

The fleet recently switched to the 2010 Dodge Charger as its vehicle of choice because the Crown Victoria will soon be discontinued.

Designed specifically for the 2010 Charger, each car features a new console and a mobile data terminal (MDT), allowing officers to link directly to the police station.

"If I had to turn around and buy all new equipment for the fleet in a couple of years, it wouldn't be very cost effective," said Const. Miron. "This way, our budget remains stable and we ended up with three more vehicles than we had with the last fleet."

The 2010 Charger is also nine percent more fuel-efficient than the Crown Victoria, and the handy-dandy slide-out tray in the trunk secures items and allows for easy access by technicians and officers.

The snazzy reflective police graphics were designed by Stephanie Floyd.

However, SooToday.com found the most interesting feature to be the holes in the floor of the back seat.

"That's in case our clients leave us some 'debris' we don't want," Const. Miron explained. "We can hose the back seat right down. It's a nice feature."

Ew.

Gross.
