Mario Blouin of Ecole secondaire catholique de Hearst has been named by Prime Minister Harper as the recipient of a national Certificate of Achievement.

Mario is the only Northerner being so honoured.

Certificates of Achievement are being presented to 54 Canadians as part of the Prime Minister’s Awards for Teaching Excellence and Excellence in Early Childhood Education.

A financial award of $1,000 is provided to each Certificate of Achievement recipient’s school or teaching institution to fund, under the recipient’s direction, professional development, equipment (such as computers, software, and audiovisual and laboratory equipment), resource materials, website development, teaching aids, or other tools to improve teaching and student learning.
