Community Builders Awards: Amanda Lambert helps Saultites improve mental and physical wellness

This year’s Health Care Award recipient is an avid volunteer and champion for prioritizing mental and physical health to ensure overall wellness

Amanda Lambert is a registered health and exercise practitioner who passionately advocates to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and addiction issues.

She has made it her goal to improve the support available in Sault Ste. Marie to combat those issues, educating our community about the benefits of staying physically healthy.

In 2017, she founded Strong Minds, a company that provides assistance to individuals striving for growth mentally and physically. Through Strong Minds, Amanda offers corporate workshops and health and wellness presentations, fall prevention programs, peer support groups, respite relief, fitness-based therapy and in-home personal and group training.

Outside of her business, Amanda volunteers extensively with many local organizations to facilitate the practice of physical activity to improve mental wellness.

Amanda also gives back to organizations that provide mental health and addiction management services locally through her annual charity event, Run for Change. Funds have supported the Sault Area Hospital Mental Health Unit, SOYA and Women in Crisis.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Amanda never relented on the power of physical activity and finding a sense of community to maintain mental wellness. She hosted outdoor community runs while gyms were closed and created online community support groups and wellness chats to support clients’ mental health and wellness during a time of isolation.

Always putting the community’s wellness first, Amanda is an inspiration to many and serves as a reminder of the significant impact individuals can have within their community when they turn their passion into their career path.

The Health Care Award is presented to an individual or group that has had an important impact on the health care of the community.

Congratulations, Amanda!

This award is proudly sponsored by Sault College.
