************************* Impaired driver

On May 30 at approximately 12:30 a.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (Sault Ste. Marie detachment) witnessed a driver proceed through a red light at the intersection of Second Line & Carmen’s Way.

Prior to stopping, the vehicle continued to be driven in an erratic fashion, weaving in and out of two lanes and crossing the centre line.

Charged with impaired driving is 20-year-old Colton James Jannes-Shaule of Sault Ste. Marie.

Jannes-Shaule was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court on July 6.

************************* Youth charged with break and enter

VANKOUGHNET TWP, ON – OPP were called to a residential break-and-enter in Goulais River area on May 30 at approximately 7 p.m.

The investigation revealed that a 17-year-old female had (allegedly) broken into the residence and removed a quantity of prescription medication.

The 17-year-old female has been charged with break and enter cannot be identified pursuant to the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

HERRICK TWP, ON – OPP were called to a break and enter on Highway 563, Batchawana Village on May 31 at approximately 4 p.m.

Unknown parties broke into an abandoned church and caused damage by breaking beer bottles inside.

The investigation is ongoing.
