**************************** Traffic stop results in drug charges

SERPENT RIVER - On June 5 at 10:40 p.m. members of the East Algoma OPP detachment stopped a vehicle on Eley road in the Iron Bridge area.

The officers noticed the two passengers had open liquor in the vehicle.

After a short investigation, police discovered one of the passengers to be in possession of suspected cocaine and a large amount of cash.

As a result of the investigation, 30-year-old Travis Wade Simons of Thessalon has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Simons is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court on the July 9, 2009 in Blind River.
