The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service is asking residents of the Manitou Park area to report any suspicious persons they see loitering in the 'hood.

They received a number of reports of people entering vehicles over the weekend in that part of town.

Police also investigated an early-morning attempted break-and-enter Saturday at JBC Variety Store, 143 Gore Street. A front window there was broken but the thieves didn't gain entry.

And Friday night, constables were summoned to the Blockbuster Video Store at 480 Pim Street about a stolen car that had been left in the parking lot with keys inside.

The vehicle was later located in the Sherwood Park area.

The Police Canine Unit helped track down two young persons who were charged with theft over $ 5,000 and possession of stolen property.

Police also advised that a downtown dumpster fire around 5:40 a.m. today might have been intentionally set.

It happened behind a business at the southeast corner of Queen Street East and East Street.
