************************* Sault Ste. Marie Police Service requesting public’s assistance regarding motor vehicle collision

City Police are currently investigating an accident involving a gold 2002 four-door Chevrolet Cavalier and a Sault Ste. Marie Fire Service truck.

The accident occurred on Friday at approximately 3:10 p.m. at the intersection of Bay Street and Pim Street in front of the Bush Plane Museum.

There were no injuries and minor damage reported.

If anyone has any information regarding this collision, please contact Sault Ste Marie Police Service Traffic Services at 949-6300 Ext. 348.

************************* Motorist and cyclists reminder

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind motorists once again to be cautious and diligent when travelling and sharing the roadway with cyclists.

Keep in mind that bicycles are defined as vehciles under the Highway Traffic Act, so treat them as you would any other vehicle on the road.

Cyclists generally ride in the right-most through-lane about one metre from the curb or parked cars.

Cyclists can ride on either the paved road, or on paved or unpaved shoulders and are entitled to ride in the centre of a lane.

When passing a cyclist, leave a safe distance between your car and the bicycle and if you plan on making a right turn ahead, be sure to anticipate the upcoming cyclist at all intersections.

Drivers must be extra cautious in residential areas, where children may be riding on sidewalks and crossing streets.

Bicyclist, remember to wear an approved helmet.
