Mayor John Rowswell will approach the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation for two more years to allow the City to put together a viable tourist attraction on the Gateway site.
City Council voted tonight to authorize Rowswell to seek a two-year-extension on NOHFC's $15 million contribution to the landmark project.
Under a resolution passed tonight, the province will also be asked to confirm its ongoing commitment to Sault Ste. Marie as a prime gateway to Northern Ontario.
The City will also look into possibly moving the Algoma Central/ CN train station to the Gateway site opposite the casino.
