City honours local reservists

Six local Canadian Forces reservists received plaques tonight from Sault Ste. Marie City Council.

They are:

Gunner Kurtis P.N. MacDonald served in Afghanistan in artillery from September 2008 to April 2009.

Bombardier Jesse J. Morin served in Afghanistan in artillery as corporal from September 2008 to April 2009.

Captain Brian Nadon was in Afghanistan the longest, having served from May 2008 until February 2009. Captain Nadon served as the J3 national operations officer in Afghanistan.

Bombardier Ryan Chiarelli was in Afghanistan from September 2008 to May 2009. He is now in regular forces and has been posted to Petawawa. His plaque was accepted tonight by May Adshead.

Master Bombardier Nicholas Luhtanen served as military police from September 11, 2008 to March 2009. His mother Christine Luhtanen accepted his plaque on his behalf.

Master Bomardier Shane Anderson served in Afghanistan from September 2008 to May 2009 as a command post supervisor second-in-command.

Master Bombardier Timothy Phillips was in Afghanistan from September 2008 to April 2009 serving as military police liason officer. Master Bombardier Phillips is regular force stationed out of Sault Ste. Marie Armoury and has served with the regular force since January 1988.
