It's finally going to happen!

Sault Ste. Marie City Council last night gave approval in principle to new traffic signals to help pedestrians crossing between Pee Wee Arena and Zeller's Plaza on Northern Avenue. Councillors voted to proceed as quickly as possible with design of the t-intersection, which will be given top priority in next year's capital construction budget.

Council must still appove the final design of the interection, and City staff have been instructed to submit both three- and four-lane configurations for the project.

Staff have also been instructed to consult with affected parties and property owners.

The project is expected to cost between $200,000 and $400,000.
