The following is full text of the City Police news release issued today.

************************* Motor vehicle collision results in impaired driving charges

Twenty-six-year-old Christopher Alberta of 297 McNabb Street (main) was arrested overnight at 2:24 a.m. and charged with two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm and one count of consume over the legal limit.

It is alleged that on the 13th of May at approximately 2:12 a.m. the accused was operating a 1999 Chevy Lumina eastbound on McNabb Street when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guardrail, tree and then a pole at the intersection of Algoma Avenue.

There were two passengers in the vehicle at the time of the collision that were transported to the hospital by ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Officers attended at the scene of the accident and found the driver, the accused to be under the influence of alcohol and he was subsequently charged.

He is to appear in court on the 14th of June.
