Children's Christmas concert hurt by teachers-government fight

Dear editor:

I am writing to you, today, disgusted at the fact that I, like many other parents, will not be able to attend our young daughter's public school Christmas concert in Laird.

When would you have ever believed that in light of arrogance, parents would be faced with not being able to attend their children’s’ school Christmas concert due to the issues between the government and our teachers.

It has been confirmed that our child's Christmas concert has been changed from an evening show to a 12 noon presentation.

Please tell me how it is that parents will be able to attend, considering the highest percentage work business hours?

Sure some parents are fortunate to have employers that would understand if they left work; however, not everyone is as fortunate.

Christmas is a time of year to celebrate sooo many thing and one being the gleam in the eyes of our young children anticipating a glimpse of who is in the audience.

Parents, grandparents, siblings?

It’s almost a surprise to look out and see.

Take the religious aspect of Christmas out of the picture for a moment.

It’s about the closeness we share.

Families getting together to celebrate with their children, teachers, other families and the community.

Isn’t it sad that due to some political indifferences, that we are faced today with the fact that our children may be left to perform, something they have worked so hard at, for such a long time, and enjoy so much, to a gym.

Empty of those who care and love them and look forward to the one time in the year, that they get together to celebrate this joyous, holiday season.

It’s just one more thing taken away from our children.

So sad, so sad.
