Chat about snow culminates in assault charge

************************* One charged with assault

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - Police have charged a local male with assault due to a call received from the victim.

On December 13, 2010, at approximately 11:51 a.m., police were called regarding a possible assault.

The victim stated to police that the subject had allegedly punched him during a conversation about a driveway needing to be shoveled.

The subject was located and charged.

Charged with assault is Mike Cole (30) of Elliot Lake.

Cole is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on February 1, 2011.

************************* Local man charged with threatening X4

ELLIOT LAKE, ON - The East Algoma OPP arrested and charged a local male after receiving a complaint of a possible threat.

December 4, 2010, the victim contacted police stating a male subject had allegedly approached the victim and her children and uttered a threat to all.

On December 11, 2010, police located and arrested the subject.

Charged with the following is Jason Daniel Lantain (36) of Elliot Lake:

- Utter threat to cause death or bodily harm (X3)

- Breach of probation.

Lantain is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake court on February 1, 2011.
