**************************** OPP arrest male for sexual assault

Child assaulted in public washroom

ASSIGINACK TOWNSHIP - On Sunday, August 7 at 9:40 a.m., Manitoulin OPP was alerted to a complaint of a sexual assault involving a young boy.

The child and his family were camping at a resort on Holiday Haven Road in Assiginack Township. 

The boy and his young sister were at the resort’s public washroom when a man approached the boy and the alleged assault took place.

The children’s father discovered the man and his son in the washroom.

Police were contacted and as a result of an investigation an individual was arrested and taken into custody. 

Kenneth Wayne Prohaska, age 49 of Chatham, Ontario, has been charged with the following offences:

- Sexual assault, Section 271 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada 

- Sexual interference with a person under 16 years of age contrary to Section 151(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada 

The accused has been remanded into custody and will be appearing in Wikwemikong Bail Court on Wednesday, August 10, 2011. 

Police are requesting the public’s assistance.
